The Shepherd's Life - James Rebanks

A beautiful and surprisingly gripping read, illustrating the clash between traditional production practices, and the contemporary UK food system. Rebanks makes a good case for the continuing value of traditional knowledge in a cynical, profit driven world.

Also a great insight into how shepherding and traditional sheep farming works. I learned terms such as 'hefting', and understood for the first time how sheep breeding works - important stuff if you live in the sheep-dominated north.
